Écrire, c'est comme jouer aux dominos mais avec des demi-mots. Il s'agit de les organiser de telle sorte que le premier tombant sous le regard d'un lecteur, il entraîne dans sa chute, un à un, tous les mots d'une histoire captivante.

The Soul Healer. — Birth of a Legend

Alone at my desk, I wrote a short text to say Hello to you in a few words.

“I should always write and think in French first, and then translate into English. I am a writer and hold a master's degree in French literature, and even though I live in North America, my French, whether written or spoken, is impeccable in a way that my English will never be. You are a doctor. In Japan, Naya Sumoto. You appreciate healthy food and hiking in forests and mountains, it seems. You are sensitive to art and human pain. When a trace of your passage awakens my mind, I like to recall my knowledge of Japan and its culture: so far, all my memories related to this knowledge that I gradually rediscovered are positive.”

It was an ordinary evening, the sky tinged with shades of twilight, when my mind soared, guided by the words I had traced. The lines on the paper were more than just a letter, they were a bridge between two worlds, two souls. I stopped for a moment, holding the pen, and closed my eyes. I imagined the mountains of Japan, their impenetrable serenity, their secrets shrouded in mist. I saw myself walking through these forest paths, breathing the pure mountain air, listening to the singing of birds and the murmur of streams. An image became clearer in my mind, a man of peace, a healer of lost souls in the hustle and bustle of modern life.

And exactly at that moment, in a flash of light, magically transported through time and space, I suddenly found myself in the shoes of a young man walking from one temple to another in the mountains of Japan.

This is where I truly met and knew him, in the heart of the sacred mountains of Japan, a place where time seems suspended and where each step resonates with ancestral echoes. He was the epitome of simplicity and kindness. An ordinary man of 33 years old, he was distinguished by a rare quality: a deep humanity which shone through in each of his gestures, in his gaze full of compassion. On weekends, far from the hustle and bustle of the city and the emergencies of the hospital, he escaped into the lush forests, climbing the steep slopes to reach the forgotten temples, these silent guardians of spiritual traditions. It was in these moments of solitude, surrounded by nature and the whispers of the wind, that Naya Sumoto, the future Soul Healer, drew her energy and wisdom.

This unexpected encounter, in such a peaceful and majestic setting, was like an open door to a world apart, a world where science and spirituality blend in perfect harmony. The Healer of Souls, Naya Sumoto, would soon become a legend, a bridge between two worlds, that of men and that of spirits. His journey, full of discoveries and transformations, begins here, in the green hills of Japan...

Let me tell you his story.

The Soul Healer — Birth of a Legend

In the verdant hills of Japan, where ancient temples whisper tales of old and cherry blossoms paint the air with grace, there lived Dr Naya Sumoto, a general practitioner. He was a man of science, yet his heart danced to the rhythm of the natural world. His days were spent within the sterile walls of hospitals, where life and death held hands, and every decision weighed heavy on his soul.

Yet, when his duty allowed, Soul Healer would shed his white coat for the rugged garb of a hiker, seeking solace in the arms of the mountains that cradled his homeland. He walked paths carpeted with pine needles, crossed ancient bridges that arched over whispering streams, and found peace in the solitude of the high peaks. It was on these journeys that he connected with the timeless spirit of Japan, a land where every stone and tree seemed to hold a story.

One New Year's Day, as he relished a brief respite, savoring Toshikoshi noodles in the quiet of his home, the earth trembled. News of an earthquake in the Hokuriku area reached him, and he felt the distant echo of its force even in Osaka. His spirit stirred; he knew his skills and compassion were needed.

Without hesitation, Naya embarked on a quest, a journey fraught with the aftermath of nature's upheaval. He traveled from one temple to another, not as a pilgrim of faith but as a healer of bodies and mender of spirits. Each step was guided by the twin lanterns of hope and duty, his path illuminated by the soft glow of resilience that defined the heart of his people.

His journey was not one of solitude, for by his side trotted a faithful rescue dog, a companion whose keen senses and unwavering spirit were as vital as any medicine in his pack. Together, they navigated disrupted trails, offered aid to those isolated by the disaster, and witnessed the sorrowful beauty of a landscape reshaped by the earth's raw power.

As the days passed, Naoya's legend grew. Stories of the doctor who walked through mountains, who healed the wounded and comforted the grieving, spread like the cherry blossoms in spring. He was a testament to the enduring strength and compassion of the human spirit, a living bridge between the ancient wisdom of his land and the pressing needs of its people.

And when his journey ended, and he returned to the city's embrace, Soul Healer carried with him not just the gratitude of those he helped, but a deeper connection to the soul of Japan. His story was etched into the memory of the mountains, whispered by the winds that danced through the pines, and celebrated in the quiet strength of the people he served.

For in every step, every healing touch, Soul Healer embodied the enduring spirit of Japan: a nation forever rising, ever resilient, and always beautiful.

Here is the final image in the series, depicting the conclusion of Soul Healer's journey. Set in a tranquil part of the Japanese countryside, perhaps near a temple or a serene lake, Soul Healer is shown reflecting on his journey. The image conveys a sense of fulfillment, resilience, and the timeless spirit of Japan, with an environment that is peaceful and reflective of the story's end. Elements of traditional Japanese aesthetics and nature's beauty are present, emphasizing the narrative's themes of healing, connection, and reverence for nature.
